Project Journal
The Timeline
05/17/2018: Today I worked on research and organization. I started off by creating a project folder and downloading assets such as textures. Then I researched the dimensions of a chess board and chess pieces to better help with creating the models.
05/23/2018: I began creating the chess board today, I found that using a grid was better than using a plane mesh.
05/23/2018: I began creating the chess board today, I found that using a grid was better than using a plane mesh.
05/29/2018: Today I created the base of the chess piece that I'm going to use on all my models.
05/31/2018: I created the pawn piece with as much detail as I can by learning to use the bevel tool.
06/04/2018: I did some touch-ups on the chess board such as making a 3D board and surrounding it with a wood cover.
06/06/2018: I converted the chess piece base into low-ploy by deleting and then bridging edge loops.
06/08/2018: Using the low-ploy base I built up all the other chess pieces.
06/12/2018: I completed the rook, bishop and the knight pieces
06/13/2018: At home, I finished the remaining pieces arranged them on the board by appending my objects. I also applied textures to the board so it wouldn't just be boring black and white squares. Overall, I did many things to touch up my project from textures to lighting and shadows.
